Poultry Health Scheme
3. The PHS is operated by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), organised on a local basis.
4. Although the scheme is based on EU legislation and is primarily to facilitate Intra-Community trade, some Third Countries (including, but not limited to Korea, Iran and Malaysia) have specified compliance with the Directive or membership of the Scheme as a condition to export poultry/hatching eggs to those countries. Where this is the case, it will be included in the wording of the Export Health Certificate (EHC) for the country in question.
5. An information leaflet summing up the scheme can be found on the Defra website.
