2ml Freeze dried faeces in glass vial. Faeces are pooled samples from infected stock. Panel will consist of both positive and negative samples

Subcontracting
Various aspects of the Proficiency testing schemes may at times be subcontracted. When this occurs it is placed with a competent subcontractor and the Quality Assurance Unit is responsible to the scheme participants for the subcontractors work.

Notes
Due to the incubation periods of some test methods the time given to report results is up to 22 weeks.
There is another scheme PT 0154 Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (Johnes) – PCR which is similar but has a shorter timescale for reporting of results which makes PT0154 more suitable for those laboratories using PCR techniques.
